Nickelodeon Magazine Slime Cake

This is a recipe from an issue of Nickelodeon magazine! I had a subscription as a child!
It was featured multiple times and the recipe is still occasionally shared on their websites to this day, but this is copied directly from the magazines!

Serving Size: 10

Cake Ingredients:
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
    • (Cake mix requires other ingrediens, such as eggs and vegetable oil, which are listed on the box.)
  • Two eight or nine inch round cake pans
Slime Ingredients:
  • 1 large (six-serving) box vanilla instant pudding
    • (Instant pudding requires other ingredients, such as milk, which are listed on the box.)
  • 8 to 12 drops green food coloring
Whipped Cream Filling Ingredients:
  • 1/2 pint well-chilled heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 to 12 drops green food coloring

Step 1
Make the two cake layers according to the directions on the box.

Step 2
Follow the instuctions on the pudding box, adding the food coloring to the mixture as you blend ingredients.
Cover the mixture and place it in the refrigerator for at least an hour, or until you are ready to use it.

Step 3:
Put all the ingredients for the whipped cream filling together in a medium-size mixing bowl. With an electric mixer, whip the cream mixture until it forms soft peaks.

Step 4:
Place one layer of the cake on a serving plate. Spread the whipped cream thickly and evenly over the top of the cake. Put the other layer on top of the whipped cream. Cover the cake with foil and refrigerate it until you're ready to serve it.

Step 5:
Pour the pudding into a large plastic bag with a zipper closing. Carefully seal the bag, leaving a 2-inch opening for the slime to come through. (Cover the sealed part with tape for extra security. You don't want the slime gushing out all at once. Trust them. The magazine staff tried it.)

Remove the cake from the refrigerator, unwrap it, and bring it to the table. Slowly tip the bag of slime over the cake and slime away! Put candles in, singe "Happy Birthday," and eat.
